Eulogy to David McTaggart

"No mourning and lots of fun"

-David`s wish for his funeral. A fine of 100 Dollars, for those, who shed a tear at the funeral. That is David!

He inspired us with his tons of ideas, many of them fabulous. His vision, his charisma kept Greenpeace alive, as a somehow united international and independent worldwide organisation, although composed of individualist stemming from very different cultural backgrounds.

His brilliant blue eyes...

I met David for the first time on october 13th 1980. Together with friends we organised the campaign against the firm "Kronos Titan" at Nordenham/north of Germany. They where responsible for the dumping of dilute acids into the North Sea. Shorty after we met again, when a bunch of "greenpeaceenthusiasts" came together in Hamburg, trying to figure out, how to set up Greenpeace Germany. David joined in. After the meeting he asked me to work for GP on a fulltime level. That`s how I became the first woman on the international board, now working with David on a weekly basis. It was an interesting time, during those first years- on the board with Pete Wilkinson, Steve Sawyer and first Pat Moore, than Mike Bosley. I had to fight to be accepted - as a young woman.
